EM Orka

EM Orka  is an Icelandic registered renewable energy developer owned by Vestas and EMPower. We are currently in the early development stage of a 35 turbine project at Garpsdalur, Iceland.

 

EM Orka was established to serve the growing Icelandic electricity demand while creating the minimum environmental, ecological and social impact. Our vision is to provide low carbon, ecologically non-invasive, affordable energy to facilitate Iceland's growing economy, while preserving its natural amenities.

Our primary business is the development of appropriately positioned and scaled greenfield wind energy power plants. EM Orka will utilise the considerable international project development experience of EMPower, coupled with the market leading technical expertise of Vestas, to deliver clean energy assets in a cost effective and environmentally responsible manner.

EMPower

EMPower is an Irish based international wind and solar energy developer with over 900 MW in development in Europe and Africa.

 

EMPower’s senior management has a combined 85 years' experience delivering projects from conception to operation across five continents. The senior management team comprises four highly experienced professionals in the fields of renewable energy project management, corporate legal, corporate finance and wind measurement.

We currently employ 12 people in our offices in Ireland, Ghana, Tanzania and Iceland.

Seán mac Cann

Diarmuid is a qualified PMI professional with 11 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. He previously worked as a project manager with Airtricity / Scottish & Southern Energy / Mainstream Renewable Power in Europe, Africa and Asia developing wind farms from inception to commercial operation.

He has 5 years’ experience in merger & acquisitions in Europe, Africa and Asia, leading teams in the acquisition of late stage renewable energy assets and delivering them from share purchase to financial close.

Seán is an English-qualified (City of London trained) commercial lawyer. He has 25 years’ broad commercial experience in private practice and in industry and has 15 years’ specific experience in the renewable energy sector. He has drafted, negotiated and closed land, joint-venture, shareholder, investment, technology-supply, construction, off-take and operational contracts across wind, solar, tidal, waste-treatment and AD/CHP projects in Ireland, the U.K., N. America and Africa.

He has also advised an African government on a land / maritime boundary dispute at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Kevin is a Prince 2 and MSP qualified project management professional with 15 years’ experience working in IT and wind farm development and construction. Kevin has an MSc in Renewable Energy Development from Herriot Watt University and previously worked as development and construction project manager for RM Energy & Muirden Energy delivering a portfolio of wind projects from early stage development to Operations. Kevin also has seven years’ experience with Microsoft serving US, Asian and European markets.

Ciaran is a qualified Geospatial Information Systems coordinator with three years’ experience in wind farm development and design. He is trained and certified by the international training & licensing body ESRI. Ciaran is responsible for continually building & maintaining EMP’s international GIS database across all markets.

Alex holds an MSc in Energy and Environmental Finance from Smurfit Business School, Dublin, as well as an MSc in Sustainable Energy Planning and Management from Aalborg University, Denmark. Alex has several years’ experience working in architecture, energy engineering and energy related finance consultancy.

Ríkarður holds a master degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iceland. He has several years’ experience working in IT solutions for the marine and aviation industry from research and development to project management. In his previous positions, he delivered projects to customers in Asia, Middle-East and Europe.
